Apple Crumble

Last week I baked so many pies! My family was very happy to have homemade pies again, but I end up with a lot of leftover pie crust from making them. I hate being wasteful so these pie crust scraps have to be put to use! Using these I created a simple and delicious recipe for an Apple Crumble. This makes for a very rich pastry with a nice pop of apple flavor coming through. It is a simple and delicious way to use up extra pie crust scraps, or a quick and easy dessert to throw together using pre-made pie crusts.

Crumbly Pastry And Sweet Apples

Start with a small greased baking pan and break up your leftover Pie Crust scraps into bite sized pieces. I used the scraps from two pies, but you can easily replace this with one store bought pie crust. This is also a great recipe to make if you have a pie crust that became too broken or torn to use. Add in 1 can of Apple Pie Filling. Mix this in lightly using your hands. A spoon will smash the pie crust bits together and make them very dense when baking.

Top off the pastry with bits of Butter, flecked across the top. These will melt through as the pastry bakes, making it moist and delicious. Sprinkle Brown Sugar over the top and drizzle honey to sweeten it. Cover the pan with aluminum foil to prevent the top from browning too quickly. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove the foil in the last 5 to 10 minutes of baking to brown. Serve with a scoop of ice cream for a delicious dessert.

1 Pie Crust, unbaked OR leftover pie scraps from 2 pies

1 can Apple Pie Filling

2 tablespoons Butter

2 tablespoons Brown Sugar

3 tablespoons Honey

In a greased baking pan, break Pie Crust into bite sized pieces and mix in Apple Pie Filling with your hands. Spread flecks of Butter on top, sprinkle with Brown Sugar, and drizzle with Honey. Cover with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove foil in the last 5 to 10 minutes of baking to brown. Serve fresh and enjoy!
